Anonymous asked: of course it's your right! and i respect you have an opinion, but you have got to realize how pretentious it sounds when you say you don't like it because they aren't up to date on whats hip (by your standards) in nyc right now
THIS IS THE LAST POST ABOUT THIS DUMB FUCKING SHOW I SWEAR!
You know, I feel like I didn’t do a good job explaining that it’s never really been about how good or bad a job the show does of being cool, it’s about me not wanting to root for the main characters.
Take this scene where the white guy brings his look-book to the woman and she says isin’t it sort of corny that you’re in your own look book?
Who wants to root for the guy who’s so inept at what he’s attempting to do that he needs this forty something business woman to tell him what should be totally obvious to him?
And it’s not just that scene, at every turn in the show the main characters are bumbling and incompetent, and basically have no business doing what they’re attempting to do.
I understand that this is how the show is written, and there is this by any means necessary slant on success written into the script, that’s fine.
Now, do I feel this way because I have a better than average understanding of the world the creators are trying to depict and would I feel this way if I just lived in Seattle, worked at a coffee shop on Pine st and skated with my boys on my day off?
I don’t know?
Probably?
For better or worse I do have an in-depth understanding of the world this show is borrowing from, and watching two morons stumble through an, albeit pretty well crafted version of my town, is not something I’m interested in doing.
It’s a show about two herbs.
Who the fuck wants to watch that?
NOBODY I KNOW.
Make a show where Dylan Rieder is an undercover cop! He carries a gun, shoots fools, blazes mad models, but is secretly in love with this super cute girl next door type. He does 4 foot high impossibles, busts drug dealers but at the same time struggles with a prescription pain-killer addiction. Now that’s a show I’m down to watch!
